About D.R.E.A.M.

D.R.E.A.M. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 by the Kramer family of West Bloomfield, Michigan as a result of their first-hand experience with Type 1 diabetes. Founders, Peri and Evan Kramer, began their fight for a cure for diabetes after their son, Tyler, was diagnosed in 2005.  Since then, they have made it their personal mission to fight diabetes and work tirelessly to help their son and the millions of others affected by diabetes.

D.R.E.A.M.’s objective is to fund research and educational projects to discover a cure for diabetes. It merges Peri and Evan Kramer’s business experience and extensive fundraising efforts to direct research and support doctors and researchers, like those at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.

Unfortunately, there are many more stories of families like the Kramer’s who have children diagnosed with diabetes. As of today, there is no known cure for Type 1 diabetes. Your support can help fund the research that is needed to find the cure!

IN HONOR OF WORLD DIABETES DAY, ON NOVEMBER 14, 2015, WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE TWO MAJOR DONATIONS TO SUPPORT DIABETES RESEARCH FOR A CURE!

“We are grateful for the generous support of the Kramer family and the D.R.E.A.M. foundation that will help us continue to develop the DRI BioHub and build on our recent progress. Our singular mission is to discover a biological cure for type 1 diabetes and we are working to do so in the fastest, safest and most efficient way possible. This gift will help us move closer to achieving that goal for the millions of children and adults living with this disease. On behalf of all of us at the Diabetes Research Institute, thank you again for supporting our promising research.” Camillo Ricordi, M.D., Director, Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine

"I would like to thank the D.R.E.A.M. foundation for supporting our research toward a cure for type 1 diabetes. We are very excited to be starting our phase II trial investigating Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), an inexpensive generic drug, as a treatment for type 1 diabetes. We are honored to be a recipient of your efforts." Dr. Denise Faustman
